Year Four 2019 - 2020

Dear pupils, parents and carers,

Welcome to a new school year.

Science Topic.

This terms science topic is called ‘Animals including Humans’.  The class will study the importance of looking after our teeth. Discuss what they know about how to keep our teeth healthy.  Consider why our teeth are different shapes and understand that they have different functions.  Use evidence from their knowledge of an animal’s diet to identify which teeth belong to which animal.  Compare the teeth of a herbivore and a carnivore and consider why they are different.

Class Topic.

The class will study the Artists Frida Kahlo, L. S. Lowry and Joan Miró, three world-class painters whose techniques and subject-matter will inspire and teach the children to create their own stunning artworks. The children will learn about the lives and techniques of three very different artists, the children will paint self-portraits, urban landscapes and abstract works under their influence.

Reminders and practical information.

Pupils will receive homework for Maths and Literacy once a week, as well as their individual reading books. Please could parents continue with their good work listening to their children read and asking questions to check their understanding with regards to Mathematics, a small amount of time dedicated to reinforcing multiplication table knowledge each week is always beneficial.
