Year Two 2019 - 2020

Welcome to Year Two!!

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year! We are delighted to welcome your children back to Year 2. They have settled into the routines well and are already impressing us with their positivity, good manners and brilliant attitudes to learning.

There are lots of exciting topics planned throughout the year to link in with our English, Maths and Religion lessons. Our topic for the Spring term is Oceans and Seas where we will be learning about life on our planet beneath the waves.

How can I help my child?

Please write your child’s name on every part of their school and P.E. uniform in waterproof ink, e.g. a Sharpie pen. Please also ensure that your child has a school bag that they bring with them every day. This will help your child to stay organised so they can carry their reading book and record, homework and any letters that are given out.

Children should be reading aloud to an adult daily. They have been given a Home-School Reading Record for you to sign. The children also read to an adult in school, either individually or as part of a group but this is recorded elsewhere.

English and Maths homework will be set each Friday and every child has been provided with a pencil. It is due back the following Tuesday. If they are struggling to do it, your child can speak to me on the Monday before it is due in. Spellings and times tables also need to be practised.

P.E. lessons take place every Monday and Tuesday. Your child’s kit (please refer to our Uniform Policy) should be in school all the time; they can be taken home and washed each half term holiday.

We are looking forward to a super year ahead. If you have any queries or concerns, please talk to us directly either by speaking with us after school or ringing the office to make an appointment.

Once again, welcome back to Year 2. Let’s work together to make this the best year ever!

Yours sincerely,

Katy Sullivan (Year 2 Teacher and Assistant Head)

Clare Sargent (Our Fabulous Teaching Assistant)
