Year Three 2025 - 2026

WELCOME TO YEAR 3

Dear Year 3 pupils, parents and carers,

Welcome to Year 3!  I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are ready for the start of a new school year.

In year 3, we have lots of exciting English, Maths, science and topic work, including; Black History, Stone Age to Iron Age and Rivers.

Please ensure you have a school/reading bag.  This will help you stay organized and have everything else you may need for a school day.

Homework will be set online each week via the LBQ website.  It would be fantastic if parents could:

  • encourage children with their homework and remind them to complete it on time
  • listen to them read daily and talk about what they have read
  • practice their times tables daily
  • help them learn to tell the time

Often, children are taught in different ways to the way their parents were taught at school.  Therefore if there is any work you are unsure about, please do not hesitate to ask me.  I will be only too happy to help.

It is essential that your PE kit remains in school throughout each term (see below).  This is to ensure you access the full curriculum safely and are able to take part in other exciting sporting opportunities.

PE Kit:

Plain white T-shirt

Plain navy blue or black shorts/leggings or tracksuit bottoms.

Your child must bring their PE kit to school in a bag. This should stay in school on their coat peg.

Parents, please read all letters sent home with the children or sent via school spider, so that you are aware of any events and exciting things going on in school throughout the school year.  Don’t forget to mark those dates on your calendar.  Studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement.  We hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns or if you would like to visit our classroom, please ring or call into school to see me.  The best times to reach me are at lunchtimes and after school.

Once again, welcome to Year 3.  Let’s work together to make this a fantastic year!

Sincerely,

Miss Pugh
